This retreat represents SynBERC's big six-year renewal site visit, the last important renewal visit on our way to the 10-year lifespan of SynBERC. We will be with the NSF for two days (Wednesday and Thursday), with time on Friday to hear privately from Affiliated Investigators about what's going on in their labs.

You must be a registered guest to attend. (Students will be asked to upload their posters. If you're not ready to upload your poster, you can email it to SynBERC Central no later than March 19.)

TRAVEL LOGISTICS FOR STUDENTS/POSTDOCS:

• HOTEL: Email SynBERC Central your name, PI/Lab affiliation, who you are sharing the room with, and your check-in/check-out dates. We have reserved a block of rooms at discounted rates at Hotel Shattuck Plaza. You can also book your rooms via online reservation link here or call the hotel at 866-466-9199 or 510-845-7300. If you call the hotel, mention SynBERC. You'll be asked for your personal credit card info to hold your reservation and pay for personal incidental charges. For all PIs, SAB members, and SynBERC-supported students/postdocs, SynBERC will pay discounted room rates plus tax for check-in by March 27 and check-out by March 30.
• AIR TRAVEL: Email SynBERC CENTRAL your travel request (download form here) on or before Feb 26 to obtain low economy class roundtrip fares. If you book your flights through SynBERC, you don't have to use personal funds. Note: UC Berkeley and SynBERC had ended ticketing arrangements with Carlson-Wagonlit Travel agency.

FROM OAKLAND or SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS:

• Take BART train (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to Downtown Berkeley Station on the Richmond line.
• Walk south on Shattuck Avenue.
• Hotel Shattuck Plaza is 1 block from the BART station, at the corner of Allston Way.
  

POSTER INFO FOR STUDENTS AND POSTDOCS: (Note: All SynBERC-funded researchers are required to bring a poster.) Special awards and prizes will be given to recognize exemplary work. The target size is 36" x 48" (plus or minus a little bit is fine). Use this poster template in PowerPoint. Also, please use the SynBERC logo as appropriate. Mark your poster "CONFIDENTIAL" on the bottom if you anticipate filing a patent or invention disclosure. All research is protected by non-disclosure and industry partnership agreements, and confidential work will be removed from public view.

PARKING INFO:
SynBERC will provide campus parking permits to IAB members, SAB members, and PIs who are driving to the meeting. Contact Fernando to reserve yours.
